Building a better community through drug prevention and intervention

Illegal substance abuse is one of most devastating problems in our community.  Butler county drug overdose deaths are among the highest in Ohio, and in the nation.  We need your help to keep the future of Fairfield — OUR YOUTH — safe!

Join the Fairfield Coalition!

Like the saying goes, it takes a village…  and our community is the key to making the Fairfield Youth Coalition work.   From hands on experience of business practices related to the retail sale of alcoholic beverages or prescription drugs, to the ability to enact policies related to the growing Heroin epidemic, we need your gifts of time, talents or treasure.

In fact, for every $1 invested in prevention, a savings of up to $10 in treatment for alcohol and other drugs can be seen.” – Office of National Drug Control Policy

•   Learning about the struggles Fairfield youth face
•   Influencing Community and School Culture
•   Connecting with community leaders, parents and school officials

Opportunities for involvement include:

•    Serving on our Coalition:  Attend monthly meetings (usually every 4th Tuesday during the school year at Fairfield Lane Library 3:30-5pm Community Room) to offer input and skills on preventing substance abuse before it begins.
•    Donating skills on Coalition projects:  We are always in need of fundraising, technical, marketing and secretarial skills to help with projects limited in duration.  Additionally, we have an annual fundraiser in April called, Fairfield’s Fantastic Race for which we need many volunteers!
•    Donate money, gift cards, or food: Over the next 3 years we will be transitioning from federal funding to community support.  We need your help in continuing the work we do after our grant expires in 2020.  Additionally, nothing promotes youth involvement like incentives!  We are constantly looking for smaller donations to help get youth involved in prevention!

Volunteering to help with youth programs as needed:

•    Leaders in Training: shapes self-esteem and identity in 40 middle school leaders.
•    Freshmen Youth Coalition: develops social, coping, and decision making skills in 30 freshmen leaders.
•    High School Youth Coalition: equips 100 high school students in prevention science, strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of youth-led prevention.
